Last year I began sorting through my recipe collection and throwing away all those recipes I’ve had for years, if not decades. This was the true humble beginning of Project Paperless.
I then gathered my tried and true favorite recipes and started a little cookbook that I could immediately access when I wanted one of these good recipes. My longterm plan was to create a cookbook that I could pass onto my children when they eventually leave home and move out into the world. There is nothing like favorite childhood food to comfort you as an adult.
The baking project has progressed and now I am ready to create this final cookbook that hopefully someday my children will treasure and enjoy. As I create a new entry for this cookbook I will post the recipe here to share with you all. I hope you will enjoy it too 🙂
This week’s debut page of my cookbook is a recipe for Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. This was the cookie recipe I used for the first ever cookie exchange I attended in December. I originally found this on the back of flour bag and as I’m not a huge fan of simple chocolate chip cookies I decided that this cookie would be better with oatmeal. So I tweaked it.
There are close up images of the recipe just below the cookbook page image, so be sure to scroll down if you’d like to easily read the recipe itself.
I love the idea of creating your own cookbook. Not only is it a great space saver for the ten cookbooks I already have, but like you said, it would be great to pass it on. It looks like you have a wonderful family! You’ll have to share your secret to four kids.. I would love to have more, but just my two makes my head spin:)
Thanks Ashley. Wow, the secret to four children? I’ll have to think about that one… Maybe you almost have the answer yourself: the ability to keep going even when your head is spinning. It also helps having a husband who can withstand my occasional nervous breakdown when my head spins right off!!! Oh, and still be able to smile afterwards 🙂
