Goodbye 2010

This has been the fastest year of my life! My days have been incredibly full this year now that we are a family of six. It has been a year of ups and downs and ups again. But then that is Life. I love our family. Ashley, Caitlin, Ethan and Sean are a joy to watch growing. Their interactions are sweet and sibling bonds are tightening. There is a lot of work involved in caring for our larger clan now. James and I are tired, as we expected we would be. We hope for more sleep in 2011 🙂

We had James’ parents move nearby from Ireland at the end of August and this has been a wonderful addition to our family life. It’s a real joy to watch the growth of the relationships between the children and their grandparents. Ian and Janet, we love having you here.

One down side of growing our family is that this year I have had so little time for reading. I have been reading blogs on my iPad as I nurse. It is a lot easier to stop and start reading blog entries than a novel or a work of nonfiction that require a stretch of reading time to get into. Exactly one year ago tonight I discovered The Frugal Girl’s blog and it has been an inspiration to me all year. Kristen, the Frugal Girl, has helped me to succeed at the few goals I set myself on New Year’s Eve 2009. She has also motivated me to think more consciously of how we use our money and resources as we take care of our family’s needs. I will be paying even more attention to this in 2011. I hope to share some of this journey in posts over the coming year.

Tonight, we are ending the year with Sean and Ethan sound asleep, and James, Ashley, Caitlin and I huddled up on the sofa with popcorn and chocolate to watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. We’ve been experiencing Harry-mania in our house since August. It’s a fitting way to end the year.

As is getting a blog post up 🙂 Perhaps there will be many more of them in the coming year!
